INSPIRATION. FROM MY HOME

Office Organisation

When we first saw this house, the cupboards in the office were stuffed to the brim with no organisation at all. And with glass doors exposing the chaos inside, I knew our office storage couldn’t stay that way.

So, after a little planning, some new shelving and a lot of rearranging, these once-cluttered cupboards have become a space that’s as functional as it is easy on the eye.

FROM EYESORE TO ORGANISED

The original cupboards were overflowing and impractical, with sagging shelves that offered little structure. By replacing the old shelves with new ones, I was able to combine our school organisation board from our previous home (now condensed to include both home and business files) with all our office essentials in one cohesive system.

A SPACE THAT WORKS HARD

One of the smartest details is a hidden power point at the back of the cupboard which means I can use my laminator and Cricut machine right on the shelf without needing to move them.

Baskets hold materials for current projects, as well as a dedicated spot for items that need to be returned to stores.

The plastic containers with lids hold smaller supplies such as spare cables, power boards, printer ink, stationery and Cricut materials, keeping everything streamlined and easy to find.

FORM MEETS FUNCTION

The mix of materials adds warmth and texture with woven baskets alongside clean white tubs, blush accents and touches of bamboo. The overall look is fresh, simple and practical making everyday tasks feel that bit easier.

TIPS FOR YOUR OWN OFFICE PROJECT

If you’re planning a similar refresh, here are a few ideas to make the most of your space:

  • Start with structure
Replace any warped or sagging shelves to create a solid foundation before you start organising.

  • Plan your zones
Group by purpose (office admin, school papers, creative projects, packaging supplies etc.) so everything has a logical home.

  • Hide the mess, show the order
Use matching baskets or containers to disguise visual clutter behind glass or open shelving.

  • Add accessible power
A discreet power point makes it easier to keep tools like printers, laminators or Cricut machines permanently in place.

  • Label and layer
Clear labels, stacked containers and consistent colours make the space feel both functional and cohesive.
